Digital Media Still Image Editing

So you are proabably wandering what is envolved in Still Image editing. Well I am not going to tell you that would be to easy would it? What I will do over the next few weeks and months is show you what can be achieved by editing some plain looking photographs with Adobe Photoshop that and a bit of imagination on my part. Then each week I will post what I think is the best edited photograph that I could achieve from the assignment given that week.

Week 1 - Straight Lines
This week class assignment was to plan and take six photographs of anything we liked as long as it envolved straight lines or had straight lines in it. I liked this photograph the most because it looked profesionaly done because of the angle the photograph was taken and that is why I decided to edit in the way that I did. The first step I took in editing was editing over some trees and a lamp ost that I thought were intruding out into the shot. I did this by clone stamping some of the surounding sky that I liked and rubbed out over them so that they were no longer visible. The other thing I did in editing the photograph was add an other layer. I edited the layer by washing over the building and the sky with a light grey. Then adjusted the blending mode so that it blent inthe mode I used was pin light.

Week 2 - Curved lines
This week class assignment was to plan and take six photographs of anything we liked as long as it envolved curved lines or had curved lines in it. The photograph that I liked the most was the one below. I liked the photograph the most because of the way that the clouds bellow towards you. The first thing I did in editing was select the sky area with a magic wand. Then I copied the layer so that only the sky appeared in the photograph. Then I copied the copy a further 8 times after that I adjusted the lighting levels for the color red on each of them selecting differnt bits of the sky. I really liked the finished effect I thought it looked really weird
,p. week 3 - Book Day

This weeks class assignment was to plan and take six photographs of books for book day.

week 4 - EYES!

This week class assignment was to plan and take six photographs of eyes in differnt cobinations. This is the photograph that I liked most because it turned out the best. What I did first in editing was edit the eye with the clone stamp so that I could expand out the white of the cornea over the top of the iris and pupil. Then I drew new ones with the paint brush the effect looked really freaky.

Week 5 - The Future Aberdeen College

This weeks class Assignment was to plan and take six photograph on the college and anything to do with the College that we may think will be here in the future. The photograph that I liked the most was the one below. I thought the photo looked really good because of the angle the shot was taken from it looked like it had been shot from a profesional. I also liked the way the sky was caught by the camera. The first step that I took in editing was to select the sky area with the magic wand tool. Then I copied this selection to a new layer and adjusted the lighting levels so that that vivid purple sky came out. Then I went back to the orignal layer and selected the college building and sign. Then I copied that selection to a new layer and washed over the selection with a vivid purple and selevted the blending option color.

Teaching a Task - Riding a bike

There are many people in the world today who are not able too ride a bike this may be for any number of reasons for example their family could not afford a bike or they simply where not interested. I was one of the later people I didn't learn how to cycle a bike until I was 12 years old and finally bothered to try and learn. There are a few different ways of learning to cycle. I would like to try and teach some of these people who cant ride a bike to do so. There are a two different ways of learning to cycle that I know of some one safe but the other can be quite dangerous and extreme if precautions are not taken like safety equipment. The first way can only be attempted with the help of an other individual.
Step 1
Go to a flat field with bicycle and helper
Step 2
Sit on bicycle with your feet on the peddles
Step 3
Start to try cycle by keeping your weight evenly distributed as you peddle if not successful try step 4
Step 4
Repeat Step 3 but ask your helper to run along supporting your bicycle for a while then releaseing from the seat pole keep on trying till you succeed

This is the other way and how I learned to cycle These safety tips must be followed the use of helmet and pads are required also test your bikes brakes so you know that they are working and you know how to use them.
Step 1
Go to somewhere where there is a hill located you must make sure that the hill is not to step about a gradient of 20 degrees and busy with cars or people that you could run over with ypor bike
Step 2
Go to top of hill sit on bike and put your feet on the peddles
Step 3
roll down the hilol and when you reach the bottom start to cycle the speed of the bikes speed of movement should be enough to help you cycle

Today me and my class mates went outside of college and took some photographs of the college building and also of the surounding area. There were five cameras and we all took turns to take photos. The photos that I have posted are what I think are the best three photographs that I had taken. I think that the three photographs shown look like they are profesionaly done. I especially like the way that I have shown the college building from an angle including the signs. I also liked the picture of the surounding area the photo was taken from the top of the stair well inside the tower block of the college.

Computer Hardware class

15/11/07
Today I installed Norton Anti Virus to a computer system. Once I had installed the virus utility program I did a virus scan on the computer system to make sure that the computer system was virus free. After the scan i uninstalled the virus utility program so that someone else could install it.
22/11/07
Today I installed Microsoft Office On a computer system. Then I checked that the program had installed properly and was working ok. Then I uninstalled Microsoft Office Again so that someone else could install it.
29/11/07
Today I manually installed the driver for an Epson 500 Dot matrix printer I did this threw the Microsoft windows printer manager. Then after the installation of the printer driver I tested the printer to see that it was working and it printed out a test sheet.
5/12/07
Today I removed the components of a computer system. Then I reassembled the computer system components .after I did this I made sure that the computer system was in working order as it was before i removed all of the components.I also adjusted the jumpers on the hard-disk drive making the drive a master drive.
12/12/07
Today I installed Microsoft Windows xp, but before doing so i had to enter the BIOS setup and change the boot sequence so that CD ROM was first in the order and the Hard disk drive was second. Then I restarted the computer system with the Windows xp disk in the CD ROM to start the installation process.
16/1/08
Today I had to diagnose and repair a problem inside a computer system. The problem that I diagnosed was that the ROM memory had been removed and also the hard- disk drive bus wire was loose because it was not inserted properly. Then after I had repaired the computer system I turned it on to test that it was functioning properly

Interview with Robert the Bruce

I am here with a Scottish national hero king Robert the Bruce who is best remembered as a national hero for his role in ridding Scotland of the ald enemy the English, well at least for a time.Well id just like to take this chance to say its a privilege to meet you Robert after all you have dead for so many years now.

So Robert id like to ask you where were you born then and in which year ?
Well Kevin i was born in Turnberry Castle in Ayrshire on 11 July 1274.

Where did you live when you were a small boy?
I lived at Lochmaben Castle in Annandale, Dumfriesshire which was the seat of the Bruce family although my family had estates in Huntingdon as well as other parts of Scotland so we were constantly on the move.

How did you become King in Scotland and when where you crowned king of Scotland?
I had a rival for the throne John Comyn but after murdering him on the the altar steps of a Franciscan priory, I declared myself King of Scotland. I was crowned King at Scone in March 1306.

When you killed John Comyn was there a backlash or did any one cast any doubt over your decision to do so?
The Pope had excommunicated Me, after I had murder my rival for the throne on the altar steps of Franciscan priory. But prompted by the English king, the Pope also excommunicated all the people of Scotland.

What would you say was your most precious of victories in battle against the English, where was it and what King was it against?
I would have to say that the battle of Banockburn, Stirlingshire in 1341 against King Edward II's was by far the greatest victories I had over England in my time.

What was your battle plan For that great victory and where you heavily out numbered?
My Scottish force was composed largely of infantry, with few archers and little cavalry. So I placed my men between two stretches of uneven and boggy ground, so the English had to attack against a narrow front giving us the upper hand. The English lined up three soldiers to one of mine they had a superior number of troops infantry, archers and cavalry but that counted for nothing.

What came of the great battle King Robert?
Well i would say that the battle of Bannockburn was the decisive blow in establishing the independence of Scotland from England. Although the English refused to recognise the fact until the treaty of Northampton 14 years later, Bannockburn set the seal on Scotland's bid for freedom.

There is a question i have to ask how did you die and where are you buried?
I was gravely ill by the time I died at Cardross on 7 July 1329. My body was buried in Dunfermline Abbey.
