radio 1 is a mainstream radio station from 7-7 monday to friday the responsility of this lies with Will Kinder who is the producer IT IS HIS JOB TO MAKE SURE THAT THE STATION STAYS COMMERCIAL AND UP TO DATE .The music that is to be played comes from the playlist which is a list of songs that the DJ s must play over the course of the week this takes up about 70% of the play time the other 30% of the music the DJ s decide .The playlist is decided by Andy Parafit who is the radio controller he and his team listen to the music that different pluggers from the different record labels and artists give them,after they listen to tem they decide who will make the list which can mean make or brake for some artists.The playlist comes in three parts A to be played beetween 25-30 times weekly by each dj.B to be played beetween 15-25 times a week by eacg dj and C to be played beetween 5-15 times weekly by each dj.The mainstrem part of the show has some of the best known DJ s in Britain here is an example Chris Moyles ,Edith Bowman and Colin Murray.After 7 the specialsed DJ s shows come on which varries in taste from indie to rock rap to house there are more specialised shows at the weekend also . a personal favourite of mine is when radio 1 goes to Ibiza in the summer it is gret they hold live music events and also cover some of the club scene over there Ian Parkinson is the head of the specialist music he decides what they eill cover when the are there.Fergie and Judge Jules are by far my favourite specialised DJ s who play Hard House/Dance and Hard Trance pumping Techno.
